NOTE ON ENDORSEMENT QUOTES: Books can be sent to the physical mail address listed below. Endorsement requests need not be preceded by an email request. Electronic versions of the text will not be accepted or read. See below for additional information regarding endorsement quotes.
NOTE about replies: This is not her personal email address; however, she does read all of the correspondence. Most often she addresses correspondence via her blog, her twitter, or over at the fansite forum. Due to the volume of traffic she receives, there is no guarantee that she will respond to you.
Melissa's mail is collected at 44 Mine Road, Suite 2 #208, Stafford VA 22554.
NOTE TO TEACHERS from MELISSA: Please do not have your students’ grades impacted by whether or not I reply. That's not fair to them or realistic for me. I was a teacher before being a writer, so I love the classroom and respect the profession (and miss it horribly!). However, I cannot reply to every letter, so I feel horrible when I get letters that say some version of "I'll get extra credit if you reply by [a date already in the past]." Thanks!
NOTE TO STUDENTS (& readers in general): If you make the process more time efficient and convenient, the odds of a reply are increased (ie include a self-addressed stamped envelope & at the least I will send a signed bookplate or signed bookmark).
ON BOOKMARKS/BOOKPLATES/COURT BANDS: If you send a self-addressed stamped envelope, you will receive a signed bookplate or signed bookmark. Please specify what you are requesting. If you want it written out to you, indicate that.
NOTE ON ENDORSEMENT QUOTES from MELISSA: I have an open-box policy: anyone can send me any book if it’s sold to/published by a traditional publishing house (ie no unpublished manuscripts!), but I don’t ever commit to reading these days. If I’m caught up or taking a break, I go to the book bins & browse. If a book grabs me AND it’s before the deadline AND I love it, I’ll send a quote. (I also tweet & blog book recs.) What I don’t do is promise that I’ll read. There are MANY great books that I haven’t got to yet, so a lack of reply means only that I haven’t replied. It doesn’t mean I disliked your book!
